
In this chapter, Aunt Alexandra invites some of her friends to Scout and Jem's house for a tea party. Scout asks Calpurnia if she can help with anything and she told her to stay in the corner. When Scout walked in, Aunt Alexandra invites her to stay with them. The ladies were talking about how all the black servants have been acting rude since Tom Robinson's sentencing. Then Atticus appears and tells Scout, Miss Maudie, Calpurnia and Aunt Alexandra that Tom Robinson has been shot dead in an attempt to escape from jail. Atticus took Calpurnia to tell Tom Robinson's widow, Helen, about the news. everyone at the party went on trying to act like nothing happened.
